MyGender Toolkit available for download

The MyGender Toolkit is educational material for promoting critical thinking through media education and gender justice awareness. The MyGender Toolkit is aimed at educators of young people in primary and secondary schools. It is a resource with the objectives of promoting critical thinking through critical civic literacy and gender awareness, informed use of mobile applications, promoting awareness of datafication, digital surveillance and intrusive technologies.

The Toolkit aims to be used in a broad and comprehensive way, proposing a reflection on the need to raise awareness about gender equality and gender justice issues, going beyond normative and binary views. It is followed by a glossary with key words central to the theme of the resource explaining what apps, algorithms, gender, sex, social media, filter bubbles, online privacy, cyberbullying and other forms of violence in the digital world are. For the promotion of good practices, we present a curation of several interesting projects that can be replicated. We have also included two sections dedicated to screening time and privacy with information and good practices to use both in the classroom and to help prepare for it.

To support educators, the MyGender Toolkit features 10 detailed classroom activities on raising awareness of gender equality and justice, healthy uses of technology platforms, privacy, online violence, digital wellbeing, screen time, representativeness in mobile apps, and representing the self in cyberspace.
